Manuka Honey
Manuka Honey is renowned for its healing properties. It is widely used in natural health products ranging from skin creams to lozenges and capsules. The benefits of manuka honey are due to its anti microbial and anti bacterial properties.
Active manuka honey is produced by bees that have gathered nectar from the Manuka Honey bush known as Leptospermum scoparium. This plant is a native of New Zealand.
The honey has a unique manuka factor (UMF) that is not found in other honey. Manuka honey is effective against a wide range of bacteria and fungi including staphylococcus aureus which is one of the most common causes of wound infections.
As well as being important for treating external problems, this honey helps internally as well. It is 8 times as effective against helicobacter pylori, the bacteria discovered to be the most common cause of stomach ulcers.
The manuka honey gives relief from eczema, dermatitis, sunburn, insect bites, cracked lips, wounds, rashes and ulcers.
Used on the skin, it also is excellent for nourishing and moisturising. Our range of manuka honey products are sourced from the Wild Ferns range of Parrs Products, a New Zealand company that has been making quality skin care products for over 20 years. We are also supplying some products from The Honey Collection, also a New Zealand company who specialise in Active Manuka Honey.
